Mesin sandi yang dibuat pada tahun 1972 ini merupakan pengembangan terakhir dari mesin sandi SR sebelum beralih ke mesin sandi tipe SRE. Mesin sandi ini telah diujicobakan pada beberapa perwakilan RI di luar negeri dengan hasil yang cukup memuaskan namun terkendala di masalah kecepatan penyandian. Sampai tahun 1975 mesin ini telah berhasil dibuat sebanyak 75 buah.

Pada era selanjutnya, Lembaga Sandi Negara mengembangkan mesin-mesin sandi tipe elektronik.

This cipher machine developed in 1972 was the last development of SR cipher machine before switching to the SRE cipher machine.
